Police are appealing for information after the theft of 20 100-year-old paving stones from an Alton convent.
The unknown offenders gained access to the gardens attached to The Convent of St Lucy, at Medstead Manor between 5.30pm on February 14 and 7.50am on February 15, by driving across flowerbeds.
They stole approximately 20 slabs from a paved feature in the garden and a further six from the top of a group of pillars.
The stones are white and very worn. PC Alexis Stanbrook, of Alton Targeted Patrol Team, said: “This was a terrible crime against the convent, a place of respect and worship.
“The stones were very old and precious to the nuns living at the convent, who have been very upset by the theft.
“Anyone who believes they may have seen stones matching the desciption is asked to make contact immediately.”
