Portsmouth police seize cannabis worth eleven thousand pounds in the space of two and a half weeks

A local Safer Neighbourhoods team (SNT) in Portsmouth has uncovered their second cannabis factory in Paulsgrove in two and a half weeks.
Officers from
Paulsgrove SNT
carried out a warrant at around 7am yesterday on a property in Harleston Road after a member of the community raised suspicions about the location.
Upon search of the property, a factory was found in a garden shed consisting of 59 plants, and had a street value of approximately £5,000.
A 50 year old man was arrested and charged for the cultivation of and intent to supply the class B drug.
This latest warrant follows a previous factory warrant on January 19. A property in Dursley Crescent was searched, and 27 fully grown cannabis plants with a street value of around £6,000 were found.
PC Andy Montague, who led the operation, said: “The job was a great success. We were supported by our neighbouring teams, Cosham and Drayton & Farlington SNTs, and the collaborative work gave great results.”
Sergeant Simon Roberts from the team said: "I would like to thank the community for supporting their Safer Neighbourhoods teams, and also the officers for the continued hard work they put into tackling local crime.
“These jobs don’t just happen – they are down to the efforts of both the community and the teams, and are good examples of how we can support local residents.
“I hope that these positive results send out a message that we will not tolerate drug related activity.”
