Detectives are continuing their appeal for a ‘good samaritan’, and also for a taxi driver, to get in contact after they helped a woman who may have been assaulted in the early hours of Saturday, March 7.
A 19-year-old from Waterlooville had been on a night out with friends in Guilldhall Walk. It is known that at 3am she was in Megabite, a food outlet, but she has almost no recollection of events between then and waking up the next morning in her car, which was parked in Garfield Road, Buckland.
The woman had suffered some bruising which cannot be explained.
The woman is known to friends as ‘Cayla’, and she was wearing a purple top with a black belt, black ‘skinny’ style jeans and black heeled shoes that had a strap across the front.
Cayla does not recall speaking to or seeing anyone, and so police are keen for the woman who tried to help her to come forward.
The mystery woman had tried to contact friends of Cayla’s using her mobile phone, with a view to arranging for someone to collect her. This woman was also in Megabite and in Guildhall Walk, and can be seen on the CCTV. She is white with long fair hair, and was wearing a white ‘ra ra’ style skirt and a dark coloured sleeveless top.
Police are releasing CCTV images from Guildhall Walk, which shows the woman who tried to help Cayla. The images also show two of the woman’s friends, both with dark hair.
Officers are hoping if they can trace either of these two women, it may lead them to the blonde woman who spoke to Cayla. Officers are also continuing to appeal to any taxi drivers who may have taken Cayla to her parked car in Buckland.
Detective Constable Nick Bettesworth said, “We are still working very hard to trace the woman with the blonde hair who helped Kayla on that evening back in early March. Kayla still has no memory of what happened that night after leaving Megabite, and I can’t stress enough how important it is that we find this woman in order to ascertain what happened.
“These images show the blonde woman we are looking to speak to, as well as two of her friends. If you know or recognise any of these women, or perhaps you recognise the clothing and may know who it is, I would urge you to contact me.
“Cayla does think she was taken to her car by a taxi, and so we are continuing to ask all taxi drivers in the city to think back, and if you remember taking someone fitting her description to the Buckland area please get in touch.”
