Efit image of man police are looking forPolice are releasing an efit image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a burglary in St Andrews Road, Southsea.

At around 4pm on Saturday, January 17, a 53-year-old woman was in her house when she heard a banging noise, and then shortly afterwards an alarm sounded.

The victim went to see where the noises were coming from and felt a cold rush of air as she entered the hallway, before she came face to face with a man who had entered the house through the basement, setting off the alarm.

The man immediately turned around and went back down to the basement.

The woman then went and opened the front door to see the man come out of the exterior basement door, and then walk south in the direction of Elm Grove.

The woman then discovered that two ornaments had been taken from her house. One was an egg shaped ornament that stood on three legs and was around four or five inches tall. It was decorated with a pink floral design, with gold on a white background, and also had a dark pink band around the middle. The egg also had hinges so that it could open up.

The second ornament was also pink and the size of an egg cup. It was made by Coalport and may have had a crack in it. It had no pattern and was plain in design. The woman said that the man smelled strongly of alcohol.

PC David Calvert said, “This was a terrible experience for this woman and I would ask that if anyone is able to recognise or identify this man they should call the police immediately.”
