Police have released an e-fit of a man they want to speak to after a teenage boy reported being followed home from school in Basingstoke.

The incidents happened at around 3pm on November 15 and again at the same time on November 17 as the boy walked along Sutton Road.

The 13-year-old was returning from school when he saw the man driving a van slowly behind him and looking at him. The driver did not get out of the vehicle or say anything.

The suspicious man was an unshaven white male with short dark hair. He was described as in his late 20s, wearing a grey hooded top and driving a blue van similar in shape to those used by British Gas.

PC Chris Whittington of Basingstoke Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “This could be quite innocent but may be linked to an incident on November 19 in Darlington Road, where an 11-year-old boy was offered a lift home from an unknown man driving a similar vehicle.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who has seen a man matching this description or a vehicle similar to this in the area.”

Anyone with any information regarding the incident should call PC Chris Whittington on 101.

Alternatively, call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
