Police are today releasing an e-fit after a man was attacked whilst walking down an alleyway that runs along Locksway Road, connecting Shirley Avenue and Pleasant Road, in Portsmouth.

At 4.30pm on Thursday, September 18, a 17-year-old student from Southsea was walking home, carrying DVDs and a mobile phone, when he was approached by three youths.

As they passed one of the youths pushed into the student’s shoulder. The student stopped and asked if there was a problem.

He was then knocked to the floor and the three youths punched and kicked him on his head and body, before walking off in the direction of Milton Road.

The student was taken to Queen Alexandra for treatment to a broken jaw and a broken nose. He is still recovering and in pain, and also has trouble eating properly.

Nothing was taken from the student when he was attacked.

The three youths are described as:

Youth 1:

  • White
  • 16 years old
  • Skinny build
  • Blond highlighted hair

Youth 2:

  • White
  • 16 years old
  • Large build
  • Dark hair

Youth 3:

  • White
  • 16 years old

Detective Constable Pete Bambury said, “The alleyway this incident took place in is well used as a cut through to side roads, and so there may have been someone who heard or saw something. To be attacked for no reason in broad daylight like this is very rare and I would urge anyone who may be able to assist this investigation to get in contact as soon as possible.”

A 16-year-old boy from Southsea has been arrested in relation to this incident and released on police bail, to return on December 8.
