Police have released two CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with an incident in the Post Office on Slindon Street, Portsmouth.

At around 1.30pm on Saturday, December 19, a Sikh man was in the Post Office when he noticed a man staring at him intensely. As the Sikh man walked past, the second man swore at him and called him a ‘Paki’.

Minutes later the two men saw each other again outside of the Post Office, and again the second man began using racist language towards the Sikh man.

Though he was unharmed, the Sikh man felt upset and intimidated by the other man’s behaviour.

The offending man is described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his early to mid 50s
  • Collar length grey hair
  • Wearing a green military style jacket, blue jeans, a base ball cap and sunglasse
  • Also wearing luminous bicycle clips on both ankles

PC Mark Walsh said, “The language used here was racist and abusive. There were people around both times the language was used, both inside and outside the Post Office. If you were there and heard what happened, or can identify the man in these pictures, please contact me.”

Can you help?
