Police are releasing CCTV images of a man and a woman who stole crates of lager from the Asda store in the Bridge Shopping Centre in Fratton, Portsmouth.
At 7.25pm on Tuesday, November 17, a 19-year-old woman who was working at the store saw the pair leave with a trolley containing three crates of lager.
As they left the store the Asda employee challenged the pair and asked for proof of purchase. The woman then hit her across the face, and the couple walked away with the trolley and the lager.
The woman who had challenged the pair sustained swelling and bruising to her cheek and nose. The lager stolen was worth £20.
The man is described as:White
- Aged in his mid 30s
- Wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and trainers
The woman is described as:
- White
- Aged in her mid 20s
- Light coloured hair, which was long and worn up in a ponytail
- Wearing a pink Henri Lloyd jacket which looked scruffy, blue jeans and white trainers
PC David Tester said, “This was a nasty, unprovoked assault on a staff member who was simply trying to do her job, and as a result of the incident she has been left in fear and is currently unable to continue with her work. Many people were going in and out of the store at the time and may have seen the offenders. If you can help identify them please contact police.”
