CCTV image of man police wish to speak toPolice are releasing CCTV of a man they wish to speak to in connection with an incident at Ali’s Kebabs on Commercial Road, Portsmouth.

At around 4pm on Wednesday, December 16, a 27-year-old man won some money whilst at Coral’s, the bookmakers in Edinburgh Road. He spoke with another man in the shop, before leaving.

The man paid his winnings into the bank and then went into Ali’s Kebabs. Whilst inside he was met by the man he had spoken to earlier, and two other men.

The two other men demanded money from the lone man. He went to leave the shop and was tripped up. Whilst on the floor he was punched and kicked before all three men ran away.

The group did not take anything, and the man received cuts and bruises which did not require hospital treatment.

The man who spoke to the victim in Coral’s is described as:

  • Black
  • Stocky build
  • 5ft 10ins tall
  • Short black hair
  • Wearing a grey hooded jumper and dark coloured jeans

The two other men are both described as:

  • Black
  • Between 18 and 20 years old
  • Around 5ft 8ins tall
  • Slim build
  • Both wearing black hooded jumpers with the hoods up

Detective Constable Ian Cambridge said, “We are looking to speak to the man in the CCTV image as soon as possible – he was both in Coral’s and then at the kebab shop at the time of the attack, and it is very important that we identify him. This is very good image, and I would urge anyone who recognises this man to call police as soon as possible.”
