Police recover stolen war medals stolen from elderly woman in Basingstoke
Police in Basingstoke have recovered several Korean war medals which were stolen during a burglary at an elderly woman’s home in South Ham.
Some time between 3pm and 8.30pm on Saturday, November 20, offender(s) forced entry to a house in Woburn Gardens. Once inside, they stole jewellery, a television, a laptop, an Ipod and 15 boxed bottles of Malt Whisky.
Several Korean war medals were also taken which belonged to the 82-year-old victim’s husband, who has recently died.
The war medals have subsequently been recovered and given back to the victim, but officers continue to appeal for anyone who knows anything about this burglary to come forward.
PC Craig Ferguson said: “This is a month where everyone remembers the sacrifice that the Armed Forces have given which makes this incident even more pertinent.
“The elderly victim was extremely shaken by this incident and I would appeal to anyone who knows anything about it to contact me. Equally if you are offered items like these for sale, please call us immediately.”
