Police raid homes in Portsmouth to target drug-related anti-social behaviour
Press Releases
Published:
23/06/2010
Police this morning raided two homes in Portsmouth as part of a campaign to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Officers executed drug warrants at a house on Lake Road, Nelson, and one on New Road, Kingston at 8am.
The operation was led by detectives from Portsmouth CID with support from officer from the drugs investigation team, Safer Neighbourhoods team and the Targeted Patrol team.
Ten officers in total were involved.
At the house on New Road police arrested a 61-year-old Portsmouth man on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drug and money laundering. He was bailed until August 28 pending further enquiries.
DC Les Leithes from Portsmouth CID said: “This investigation is part of our continuing work to disrupt the sale and supply of drugs in Portsmouth.
“It sends a message to anyone who comes here to deal drugs that we will pursue you and track you down.
“This summer the whole of Hampshire Constabulary is engaged in a campaign to reduce anti-social behaviour.
“As well as being illegal activities in themselves, the use and supply of drugs brings with it associated nuisance problems for local neighbourhoods.
“By targeting the cause of these problems, we hope to improve the quality of life for everyone in our communities and make them safer for everyone who lives and works in the city.”
You can report incidents of anti-social behaviour to the police by calling 101.
