Police name motorcyclist killed in West Meon crash

Police can confirm that the motorcyclist who died following a collision at West Meon yesterday was 33-year-old Gavin Kwabena Wallis from Gosport.

Mr Wallis was riding his white BMW motorcycle along the A272 Winchester Road at 2.30pm when he was in collision with a Mercedes vehicle recovery truck.

Mr Wallis sustained serious injuries and died at the scene. The truck driver, a 40-year-old man from Midhurst, was unharmed.

The road was closed between West Meon Hut and Privet for six hours while accident investigators examined the scene and awaited recovery for the vehicles. It was re-opened at 8:30pm.
