Police attended an address in Delamere Road at 8.06pm after reports of smoke coming from the windows of a property there.
James William Farmer, 76, was found inside with severe burns and was taken to Queen Alexandra hospital, where he sadly died the following day (Thursday, March 5).
The man’s family have been notified.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
