Police name cyclist who died in Bramshott crash

Police have released the name of a man who died following a road traffic incident at Woolmer Lane, Bramshott, on Monday, May 3.

John Western Greaves was on his bicycle riding south on Woolmer Lane at about 12.50pm, when it is believed he lost control of his bike and was flung to the roadside.

The 70-year-old, of Rectory Lane, Bramshott, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford where he later died.

Mr Greave’s family said he was the darling husband of Peggy, loving father of Caroline, Veronica, Cecilia and Alexander and the very proud grandfather of 11.

A thanksgiving service is being held at St Mary's Bramshott, Hampshire, on Thursday, May 13 at 3pm.

Police are currently investigating the incident and are keen to speak with anybody who may have seen what happened.
