Police name 18-year-old who died in Bordon crash

Police have named an 18-year-old man who died in a single-car crash in Bordon earlier this week.

Lee Ronald Smith, of Fernhill Heights, Belfast, Northern Ireland, died after the blue Fiat Punto he was driving left the road and collided with a tree on Whitehill Road, Standford, Bordon.

The crash happened at about 9.40pm on Tuesday, June 15.

Two of the passengers in the car – a 17-year-old boy from Blackpool and an 18-year-old man from Paignton in Devon – sustained serious life-threatening injuries and were taken to Kings College Hospital in London for treatment.  They both remain in a critical but stable condition.

The other passenger, a 17-year-old boy from Torquay in Devon, suffered minor injuries.

All four people in the car were serving army personnel.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the car prior to the crash or saw the crash to contact them.
