Officers are reminding parents to talk to their children about stranger danger after a suspicious incident was reported to police yesterday (Wednesday, November 2).
Around 4.30pm, a boy was leaving school and walked down Botley Road to meet his mother.
A black car was parked on the road side with the window down, and as the boy passed the car the man inside appeared to try to get the boy’s attention. The boy immediately ran away and met up with his mother.
Inspector Patrick Holdaway said, “We take reports of this nature seriously and we are fully investigating the circumstances. In order to provide some reassurance we have got extra officers patrolling in Sholing, and we are also working with the school.
“The evenings are getting darker and we’d like to remind people to make sure you know where your children are, and to collect them from schools and activity clubs where possible. It’s also advisable to make sure your children know that if they are approached or spoken to by strangers, they should tell a trusted adult immediately.”
