Police issue description of burglary suspect in Portsmouth

Police are investigating a report of an attempted burglary at an address in Montague Road in Portsmouth.
Officers were called at 11.46am this morning (Tuesday, June 28, 2011) when a family disturbed a man they saw outside their house in the back garden. No property has been confirmed as stolen. No injuries have been reported to police.
Police carried out air and land searches of the area for a suspect who was described as:
> White
> Approximately 20 years old
> Thin build
> Brown cropped hair
> He was wearing a grey jacket and blue jeans.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “We would like to thank the family affected for their actions in reporting this attempted burglary to us swiftly. Officers are making further enquiries to find the suspect as soon as possible. This attempted burglary is not believed to be linked to any other reports at the moment. The dedicated local Safer Neighbourhoods teams for this area are being updated on the situation so they can provide reassurance to local residents and respond to any further reports of suspicious behaviour in the community.”
