Police in Shirley are appealing for witnesses after a series of arsons in Southampton. They all happened in the early hours of Sunday morning, September 19 and are believed to be linked.
In one case a car was destroyed by fire.
The first incident happened about 2.40am when a bin was set ablaze in Archers Road.
Then a little further along the same road another bin was set alight around 2.50am at Romero Halls.
Four minutes later in Berkley Close the car was set on fire. Then another vehicle was damage by a fire at the side of a Launderette at around 3.40am. A person was seen stacking crates against the side of the Launderette before setting fire to them in Shirley Road.
Finally just before 4.15am a fence was set on fire, also in Shirley Road.
Officers think it’s likely the same person is responsible for all the arsons. There were also two fires the previous weekend in the same area which police are also looking into and may also be connected.
They were: Another car set on fire in the early hours of Sunday, September 12 in Berkley Close and also another blaze in the same close.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone who has any information about the crimes to contact them. They are asked to call PC Mick Connolly at Shirley CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
