Police in Portsmouth are investigating a robbery in the early hours of Saturday August 22, and are appealing for witnesses.

Sometime between 2.45 and 3am a 22-year-old local man was walking home after a night out. As he walked along Winston Churchill Avenue he noticed three youths on bikes. They followed him along St Andrews Road, and one approached the man and punched him. The two others went through his pockets and took his mobile phone and his wallet. One of the youths also had a pen knife, although the man was not directly threatened with it.

The first youth is described as:

• Between 16 and 19 years old

• 5ft 9 tall

• Wearing a grey hooded top, with the hood up

• Riding a BMX bike

The other two were also between 16 and 19 years old, wearing dark or black hooded tops.

Detective Constable Toby Wilson is investigating: “The man had just left Gunwharf Quays and was walking home. He first spotted his attackers on bikes on Winston Churchill Avenue.

“I’d like to hear from anyone who saw these three before or after the robbery as they may have information which could help police.”
