Police in Southampton seize around £60,000 worth of drugs during National Tackling Drugs Week

Police officers In Southampton have seized around £60,000 worth of drugs during National Tackling Drugs Week which ended on Sunday June 14. Police forces across the UK took part in the campaign.
This year’s campaign saw police nationwide concentrate on reducing the effects on the communities by working with partner agencies, especially local authorities and substance misuse workers to provide drugs treatment and reduce use.
A whole range of operational activity took place in Southampton which resulted in the seizure of around £60,000 worth of drugs. Several arrests were also made.
National Drugs Week successes June 8 -14 in Southampton:
Warrants executed at: Union Road, Southampton - Cannabis factory found. Potential value of drugs at address £46,000. Two men arrested Thang Nguyen aged 21 and Men Van Bui, aged 41 from Union Road. Both were charged with being involved in the production of cannabis. Bernard Street, Southampton, around £800 worth of heroin recovered. Antonio Rodrigues, aged 34, was arrested and has been charged with possession with intent to supply.
Laurel Close, Southampton. Six passports and large number of driving licenses recovered.
Smythe Road, Southampton 100 cannabis plants growing hydroponically in rear shed. Electricity had been by-passed. Three people arrested and bailed until September while enquiries continue.
Hawkley Green, Weston: Small amount of heroin and amphetamine recovered.Man aged 35 and woman aged 40 arrested and bailed until next month while enquiries continue.
On Thursday 11th and Friday June 12 activities concentrated on Red Funnel Isle of Wight ferry port due to large numbers of people attending the Isle of Wight Music Festival. Drivers and foot passengers were searched with the assistance of sniffer dogs.
Over the two days, four people were arrested. Three were charged with possession of cocaine. One was arrested for possession of methadone, LSD cocaine, and cannabis.
11 people were either issued with Fixed Penalty Notices for possession of class A or cautioned for possession of class B drugs.
14 street warnings for possession of cannabis were issued.
1 person was street bailed for possession of cocaine, cannabis, and pills Substantial amounts of class B drugs was recovered over the two days, (cannabis and cocaine) with over 20 seizures on the Friday.
