Police in Portsmouth investigate two robberies and appeal for witnesses

CCTV picture in connection with a robbery in PortsmouthDetectives in Portsmouth are investigating two robberies which happened fifteen minutes apart. Officers are trying to establish whether the two robberies are linked, and are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

The first robbery happened between 1.45 and 2am on Saturday, September 20 at the Holbrook Road roundabout. A 39-year-old man from Southsea was walking home after a night out when he was approached by two men.

They pinned him to the floor and stole his mobile phone and wallet.

The men are described as:

• White

• In their early 20s

• 5ft 10, of medium build and 5 ft 7 tall and of slim build

• Both had dark hair

• One was wearing a black top and jeans; the other a white top and jeans

Police believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of the attack and urge them to contact officers. #

The second robbery happened between 2.10 and 2.15am at the Bridge Shopping Centre. A 23-year-old man from Southsea was assaulted by an unknown man who stole his wallet.

He was forced to reveal his bank PIN number and £100 was withdrawn from his account.

The attacker is described as:

• White

• Slim build

• Wearing black trousers, a black t-shirt and a grey zip-up hooded top and black shoes

DC Rachael Kensett who is investigating both robberies said: “I’d like to hear from anyone in the area at the time of these two robberies. You may have information which can help us. Or, if you recognize the man in the CCTV picture then please get in touch.”
