Police in East Hampshire are investigating a distraction burglary at the home of an 84-year-old man.

The pensioner got his wallet out (which contained £200) and the man snatched it and ran from the house. The man was seen getting into a dark coloured car which had another man inside. The car drove off towards Anstey Road.
The man is described as:
- White
- In his 40s
- 5ft 6 tall
- Stocky build
- Very short light brown or blond hair
- Wearing a shirt and tie
Detective Constable Colin Heggarty who is investigating said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw a man fitting this description.
“We are following up a number of enquries but would urge anyone with information to contact us. This is a despicable crime on an eldery man in his own home-thankfully these type of incidents are rare."
He added: “If someone calls at your home announced and offers to do work you had not arranged, do not let them into your property. If you have any concerns, call police on 101.
“Ask the caller for identification and call their company to double check-any legitaimate caller would not mind you doing this.”
