Police hold Highlands community fun day in September

Police from the local Safer Neighbourhoods Team will be holding a special event for the Highlands Road community on Saturday September 12.

The fun day will take place in the shopping parade on Highlands Road between 11am and 5pm.

The event is a chance for the local community from the area to come along and see representatives from local partner agencies including the police, fire service, ambulance service and council.

They will be bringing along vehicles for the public to look at and will be there to answer any questions people may have about how their community is catered for.

Also on offer will be many fun events including free face painting, hairdressing, musical entertainment and street entertainers.

PCSO Ann Adams, who has organised the event, said: “We feel it is very important to hold events like this as it gives local people a chance to have face to face communication with their local partner agency officers.

“The importance of this cannot be underestimated as it gives residents a feeling that they can address their concerns directly and that they are a part of making the community a safer and happier place to live.

“We hope that many residents will turn up and will ask us questions we will be happy to answer.

“It’s also a chance for families to come along and enjoy some free entertainment from some of our local groups and associations.”
