Police continue to appeal for witnesses after elderly woman dies in road crash

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses after an 86-year-old woman died in road crash in Southampton.

Lily Doudic died after she was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Vectra on Wednesday, April 21, which was travelling along Bursledon Road, towards the city.

Police believe Lily was crossing Bursledon Road at the time of the crash.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash - which happened at about 2.20pm near the KFC fast food restaurant – or anyone who may have seen Lily walking along Burseldon Road shortly before the crash.

Police are keen to trace a woman with long blonde hair who may have comforted the driver of the Vectra following the crash.

They would also like to speak to a motorcyclist who came over to the scene on foot. It is thought his motorbike was parked in the KFC car park at the time of the crash.

The section of road where the accident happened was closed off while officers from the Roads Policing Unit investigated the incident. It was re-opened later that day.

The driver of the Vectra was not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Alyson West, at the Road Deaths Investigation Team in Eastleigh, on 101, quoting Operation Matterhorn, or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
