Detectives investigating an assault on a jogger in Portsmouth have charged two men.

John BOSSUOT, 38 of Colwell Road, Portsmouth and Anthony Dennis BRODERICK, 42 of Hawthorn Crescent Portsmouth were both charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Both men appeared in court on Saturday- Bossuot was remanded into custody, Broderick was released on bail. Both are due back in court on November 23.

The assault happened on Wednesday, August 12, when a 36-year-old man from Portsmouth was jogging along a track which runs between Tipner Lake and the M275. He received serious head injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses—specifically a man walking a small white dog in the area at the time of the incident. Officers would also like to hear from anyone who saw a red Landrover parked at the Portsbridge roundabout.

Detective Inspector Darren Rawlings said: “We will be revisiting the scene a week after the attack to appeal for witnesses. We would like to hear from anyone who may have been involved in previous altercations in the area or who saw this attack happen.

“The local community has already provided us with a great deal of information for which we thank them.”
