Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an attempted robbery on the morning of Monday, March 30.

At 9am, a 44-year-old woman parked in the car park for Cosham Health Centre, on Vectis Way, intending to visit the health centre.

As the woman got out of her car she took her rucksack with her, and turned to find a man stood in front of her.

The man grabbed the rucksack and tried to pull it from the woman. The woman struggled and kept hold of the bag, and began shouting at the man to let go.

The man then let go of the bag and jumped over a nearby wall before running away.

The man is described as:

  • White
  • Around 5ft 8ins tall
  • Stocky build on his upper body, with slimmer legs
  • Between 20 and 25 years old
  • Wearing a khaki coloured scarf around his face, an off-white baseball cap, a dark coloured crew neck jumper and a pair of dark green tracksuit bottoms

Detective Constable Toby Wilson said, “We are looking to hear from anyone who may have seen what happened – this incident took place at a busy time of day and in an area where there would have been a lot of people, perhaps on their way to work or just going about their daily business. If you saw anyone matching this description of this man or you saw what happened please contact me.”

Can you help?
