Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Bramley on Sunday, September 12.
At around 11.30pm a 43-year-old man was walking along a pathway near to the railway line and Hillside Road.
As he walked he was approached from behind and hit over the head. He suffered bruising to his head following the assault.
During the incident the victim dropped his coat and it was stolen by the offenders. It contained a birth certificate and £325.
The victim has told police that he believes two or three men were responsible. One of the men was wearing a white baseball cap and trainers.
PC Paul Thorne, of the Basingstoke Targeted Patrol Team, said: “This incident happened late in the evening but someone may have been around in the area and seen something.
“We would ask anyone with any information to come forward and contact us as soon as possible.
“We would also remind all our residents to be vigilant and stick to well lit footpaths and pavements when walking alone at night.”
