At around 12.35pm a 64-year-old woman was in the car park at Asda in Brighton Hill.

As the woman was returning her trolley she was approached by another woman who spoke to her.

When she returned to her car she saw a man walking away from her vehicle. She then realised that her handbag was open and three credit cards were missing.

She approached the man who threw two of the credit cards on the floor and then ran off.

The man and woman then left the car park in a blue vehicle.

The woman is described as:

  • Eastern European
  • Aged in her 20s
  • 5ft tall
  • Average build
  • Dark hair
  • Wearing a dark coloured hat

The man is described as:

  • Eastern European
  • Aged in his late 20s
  • 5ft 8ins tall
  • Stocky build
  • Wearing light coloured clothing and a light coloured hat

PC Dan Roberts, of the Basingstoke Tasking Team, said: “This theft happened at a time of day when the car park would have been busy.

“We want to hear from anyone who has seen a man and woman matching the descriptions in the area. We are also keen to speak to anyone who has been the victim of a similar incident.

“We would remind shoppers to keep hold of their belongings at all times and lock vehicles when you are away from them, even if you are just returning a trolley.

“We would also encourage people to report any suspicious people to police.”
