Police appeal for witnesses after cash and jewellery worth more than £10,000 stolen in Basingstoke burglary
Police in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses and information after burglars stole jewellery and cash from a pensioner’s home in Chineham.
Between 11.10am and 2pm on November 29, offender(s) entered the house in Glade Close, and stole a significant amount of jewellery.
This included a platinum three-stone diamond and emerald ring, valued at at least £2000 and an 18ct gold single-stone cushion-shaped diamond ring, valued at at least £1400. An amount of cash was also taken from the 77-year-old woman’s house.
PC Richard Chegwidden said: “The house is close to a footpath which runs between Glade Close and
Christ Church in Reading Road, and it is believed the offender(s) made their escape via this path toward the bridge.
“The footpath is very well used by the public and I would be keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious.”
