Police appeal for witnesses after burglary in Ropley

Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary at a storage yard in Ropley overnight between Sunday, August 15 and Monday, August 16.

Between 12pm on Sunday and 8.20am on Monday two storage units were broken into at Oaklands Lyeway in Lyeway Road.

A Ford Transit tipper van was then stolen along with tools including two cement mixers, a tile cutter and a nail gun.

The cab of the van is white with green writing which reads ‘Colemans Building Company’. The rear end of the vehicle is black.

PC Philip Heath, of the Alton Targeted Patrol Team, said: “Burglaries like this are rare in Ropley and we want to hear from anyone with information about it.

“If you have any information about what happened or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time please contact us as soon as possible.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has seen the van being driven around the area since Monday.

“As always we would remind residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.”
