Police are appealing for a man who was assaulted to contact them after the incident was reported by witnesses who saw the attack in Queen Street, Portsmouth.

Just before 5pm yesterday (Monday, February 22), two men were seen to be arguing opposite the Subway sandwich shop.

One man then hit the other and ran away. The injured man had fallen to the floor, and had a cut to his head and a bloody nose. He did not stop at the scene and quickly left.

The offender is described as a white man, aged around 25 years old, fairly tall and of slim build. He had black hair and was wearing a tightly fitted black leather jacket, blue jeans with worn patches, white trainers and a hat or cap which looked flat.

PC Roger Wood said, “This incident happened at a busy time of day, with many commuters in the area, perhaps heading to or from the ferry terminal. I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward, and especially the man who was assaulted – we would like ascertain what happened and ensure he is not seriously injured.”

Can you help?
