Police are appealing for information following a robbery involving a cyclist, in Merton Road yesterday. (Nov 4)
The victim, a 40-year-old local woman, was cycling past Angels Community Service between 1.10pm and 1.30pm when she stopped to allow a van to pass her.
While she was stopped another cyclist who had been cycling behind her came alongside, grabbed her wrist and pulled her handbag off the handlebars.
The offender then turned back down the street and cycled down Nelson Road, followed by the victim who then lost sight of him and contacted police.
The offender is described as a six foot tall white man of slim build, about 20 years old and wearing a black woollen hat, long-sleeved black cotton top and dark trousers or jeans.
The stolen bag is a green, yellow and orange Radley bag with a picture of the label’s Radley dog on the front. It contained £520 in cash, four mobile phones, house keys and a diamond jewellery set – including a diamond ring, necklace and earrings – to the value of approximately £700.
Anyone with any information regarding the robbery is asked to call Sgt Dean Juster at Southsea Targeted Patrol Team on 101.
Alternatively, call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
