Police in Basingstoke are appealing for information after a suspicious incident near the Dankworth Road / Hadyn Road subway.

Between 4.30pm and 4.45pm on Wednesday, September 21, a 10-year-old girl was walking home from school when a man she had been walking behind stopped to tie his shoelace.

As the girl walked past him, he grabbed her arm and made an inappropriate comment. The girl then ran home.

The man is described as white, aged about 50, about 5ft 8ins tall and of a thin build. He had short light-ginger hair, freckles on his face and ginger stubble. He was wearing a white hooded sports jacket with blue stripes down the arms, blue jeans, white trainers and a red baseball cap with a white Adidas logo on the front.

The man also had his right eyebrow pierced and was wearing a gold bracelet.

PC Kerry Hayman said: “This was a frightening incident for the girl involved but the public should be reassured this is a rare occurrence.

“I would like to hear from anyone who saw this incident or has any information about it.”
