CCTV image of woman who helped Cayla, with a man in MegabiteDetectives are appealing for a ‘good samaritan’ and a taxi driver to get in contact after they helped a woman who may have been assaulted in the early hours of Saturday, March 7.

A 19-year-old from Waterlooville had been on a night out with friends in Guilldhall Walk. It is known that at 3am she was in Megabite, a food outlet, but she has almost no recollection of events between then and waking up the next morning in her car, which was parked in Garfield Road, Buckland.

The woman had suffered some bruising which cannot be explained.

The woman is known to friends as ‘Cayla’, and she was wearing a purple top with a black belt, black ‘skinny’ style jeans and black heeled shoes that had a strap across the front.

Cayla does not recall speaking to or seeing anyone, and so police are keen for the woman who tried to help her to come forward.

The mystery woman had tried to contact friends of Cayla’s using her mobile phone, with a view to arranging for someone to collect her. This woman was also in Megabite and can be seen on CCTV. She is white with long fair hair, and was wearing a white ‘ra ra’ style skirt and a dark coloured sleeveless top.

Police are releasing a CCTV image from Megabite, which shows the woman who tried to help Cayla, and a man she was talking to.

Officers are also appealing to any taxi drivers who may have taken Cayla to her parked car in Buckland.

Detective Constable Jed Keemar said, “Unfortunately Cayla has no recollection of the hours between leaving the Guildhall area and waking up, and so it is vital that we trace the woman who helped her in order to piece together what happened.

“The CCTV image from Megabite shows the woman talking to a man – if you recognise either of these people or if you are that man, please get in contact in order to help us identify the woman.

“Cayla thinks she was taken to her car by a taxi, and so if any taxi drivers in the city recall taking someone fitting her description to the Buckland area I would urge them to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
