Police are appealing for information after a 19-year-old man was robbed in Andover last Friday evening (January 13).

The incident occurred on the bridge leading into King Arthur’s Way from Roman Way at about 11.40pm last Friday.

The man was chased over the bridge and then hit by three unknown men and his mobile phone; a Blackberry with a white cover, was stolen.

The victim has only been able to provide a brief description of the three men and describes them as three black men aged in their mid 20s.

The victim suffered a swollen ankle and cuts and bruises to his hands, elbow and hip.

Detective Constable Robert Harrington said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen three men matching the description in the area before or after the incident took place.

“Thankfully this is a rare occurrence for Andover but I would urge members of the public to remain vigilant when out walking at night and in particular to take some simple crime prevention steps such as not carrying your mobile phone in your hand, not leaving wallets or purses on display and to walk in well lit areas.”
