Detectives are appealing for information after an incident where a man was approached by two men in Portsmouth, possibly as part of a robbery.

At around 6.50pm on Friday, November 21, a 49-year-old man from Cosham was driving his car down Meadowsweet Way, whilst working as a credit collection agent.

A Ford Fiesta containing two men pulled up in front of the man, blocking his path. The man in the front passenger seat got out of the car and started walking towards the man’s car, holding a silver object which appeared to be either a knife or screwdriver.

The man managed to get his car around the Fiesta and drove away. The Fiesta then followed him for a short time before turning off onto Lowestoft Road.

The man who got out of the car is described as:

  • White
  • 6ft tall
  • Slim build
  • Between 18 and 25 years old
  • Wearing a dark baseball cap, and a light coloured hooded jumper with the hood pulled up over the cap, and a scarf around his face

The driver of the car is described as:

  • White
  • Wearing a baseball cap, and a dark coloured hooded jumper with the hood pulled up over the cap, and a scarf around his face

Their car was an older style dark blue Ford Fiesta, which had no registration plate on the front of the vehicle, and no wheel trims on the passenger side. There was a sunshade in the rear passenger side window, and the car had a broken sidelight on the driver’s side.

Detective Constable Anne Keir said, “This incident occurred in darkness but in a residential area, and so there may be people who heard or saw something suspicious who need to contact us.

“This incident may or may not be connected to the man’s occupation, and so I would advise people driving alone at night to be aware of their safety.”

Can you help?
