Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a burglary at a house in Garnier Street, Portsmouth.

Between 9pm on February 15 and 11.30am on February 26, the property was broken into and jewellery was stolen.

The 78-year-old homeowner has not found any signs of forced entry at any point, but discovered the jewellery missing when she wanted to clean it last Thursday.

A total of five rings were taken. They were a gold ring with five diamonds (one diamond is a replacement and is smaller than the rest), a gold, diamond and emerald wishbone ring, a gold, diamond and sapphire ring (three blue sapphire surrounded by a cluster of diamonds), a gold and zirconia solitaire ring, and a gold cameo ring (white cameo on a brown background). The total value of the items stolen is estimated at £2,000.

PC Jennifer Beynon said, “We are appealing for any information about where this jewellery may be, especially as it was of particular sentimental value to it’s owner. It may be that it has been offered for sale locally, which could provide a vital link to the possible offender. If you think you can help please contact me as soon as possible.”

Can you help?

Southern Crimestoppers Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Beynon at Southsea police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. Mini-Com users can call 01962 875000.
