Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman was assaulted with a knife whilst in her front garden on Thursday, May 21.
Between 7.45pm and 8.15pm, a 45-year-old woman was stood in her front garden in Beverston Road, putting her rubbish out.
As she did so, a man walked up her front path and grabbed hold of her, holding a knife up to her neck.
The woman struggled with the man briefly. The woman’s partner, who had been stood just outside of the garden, came forward and pulled the man from the woman.
The offender then stepped back and walked away, in the direction of Hillsley Road.
The woman had a small cut to her neck and some bruising on her arm, and attended the Queen Alexandra hospital for treatment.
The man is described as:
- White
- Aged in his mid 40s
- 6ft 2ins tall
- Balding head
- Wearing a tight fitting black leather jacket, a cream top and blue jeans
- Possibly under the influence of drink or drugs
PC Allan Cameron said, “This was an unprovoked attack on a woman whilst she was standing in the front door of her own home. Any witnesses or those with information are asked to come forward and help with the investigation. Though an incident like this is rare, the man needs to be identified as soon as possible.”
