Police appeal following assault in Chineham

Police in Basingstoke are appealing for information after an assault in Chineham in the early hours of Saturday, September 27.

At around 1.45am an 18-year-old man was cycling home along Hanmore Road past the Chineham Arms when he saw three men heading towards him.

One of the men then pushed the teenager of his bike and as he went to get back on his bike another one of the men punched him in the face and then stamped on his head.

The victim then managed to get onto his bike and cycle away. He suffered facial injuries following the assault and was treated at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

The first man is described as: 

  • White
  • Aged in his 20s
  • Short and stocky
  • Wearing a hooded top

The second man is described as: 

  • White
  • Aged in his 20s
  • Tall
  • Skinhead
  • Wearing a grey or white hooded top

The third man is described as: 

  • White
  • Aged in his 20s
  • Skinhead

PC Alexander Cudworth, of Basingstoke police station, said: “This was a serious incident and we are keen to trace those responsible.

“We would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who has any information about it to contact police as soon as possible.”
