Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked whilst making her way home, at around 12.10am on Sunday, February 21.
The 49-year-old woman had been at a friend’s 30th birthday party, and was passing the shops on Allaway Avenue as she walked the short distance home.
The woman was outside the Chinese take-away when she was attacked, receiving injuries to her face, head, knees and elbows. She was taken by ambulance to the Queen Alexandra hospital, where she was kept in overnight and received stitches to a cut near her eye.
The woman is now recovering at home.
Detective Constable Mel Sinclair said, “This was a shocking attack on a woman who was walking home alone, and this type of occurrence is rare in Paulsgrove. The woman cannot remember very much of this incident, however she recalls seeing a woman aged in her 20s when it happened.
“Police were called by South Central Ambulance service personnel, who were first on the scene, and we are looking for the person who initially reported the incident to them – they may have witnessed the attack and have important information. Similarly we’d also like to hear from anyone else who saw or heard what happened; though it was late at night there may have been people in the area who can help identify the offender.”
