Police appeal after two men are assaulted outside a pub in Southsea

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an incident where two men were assaulted by a third man, whilst outside of a pub at the junction of Albert Road and Napier Street in Southsea.

At 12.50am on Monday, November 30, a 44-year-old man and a 47-year-old man were both stood on the pavement smoking cigarettes outside of the 5th Hants Volunteer pub.

A third man approached them and, unprovoked, assaulted both men; knocking one to the ground and then assaulting the second man, who tried to intervene. This caused one to lose a tooth and receive a bite mark on his ear, which later became infected, while the other man sustained a cut lip requiring eight stitches.

Both men also suffered concussion as a result of the incident. Both men received hospital treatment for their injuries.

The offender is described as:

  • Aged between 25 and 30 years old
  • 5ft 11ins tall
  • Slim build
  • Short blond hair
  • Fair complexion
  • Wearing a pin striped suit and a white shirt

Police spokesperson said, “This was a sudden and unprovoked attack which left both men shocked. The offender was violent in his attack and we are looking for anyone who saw what happened to contact police.”
