Police are appealing for information after a high value burglary at a house in Court Lane, Cosham, where two cars were stolen along with other goods from the property.
Sometime between 11.30pm on Sunday, November 15, when the family went to bed, and 3am on Monday, November 16, when they were woken by their pets, the house was broken into.
Offenders entered through the rear of the property, and stole a wallet, two iPods, a Dell laptop, a Nokia mobile phone, a set of golf clubs worth £2000 and a Tag Heuer men’s watch worth £2000.
Two sets of keys for the two cars parked at the address were also taken, as well as the cars themselves. The cars were a black Mercedes C180K coupe worth in excess of £15,000 and a black BMW 365 coupe, worth in excess of £60,000.
Both cars were found on Hayling Island yesterday (Tuesday, November 17). The Mercedes had been destroyed by fire, and the BMW had some damage to one of the rear wheels of the car.
PC Allison Fraser said, “Have you been offered any of these goods for sale in the pub, door to door or in the street? If you are offered iPods, gold, jewellery, laptops and so on in such circumstances, I would advise not to buy them, but to call the police. People who have innocent reasons to sell such things have many ways to do so legally. Please do not make it easy for the thieves and burglars to sell on stolen goods.
"Have the cars stolen been seen in your area? In particular, one registration is a private number plate, making it more distinctive. This is an unusual occurrence in this area, but I would suggest that people take precautions and lock all doors and windows, keeping keys in a safe place and expensive items out of sight, particularly in the run up to the festive season where you may have gifts in the house."
