Officers are today appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenaged boy was robbed whilst out with his girlfriend on Friday, March 13.

Just after 11pm, the 17-year-old from Fratton was with his 15-year-old girlfriend on Northern Parade when they passed a group of around ten youths near to the Shell petrol station.

One of the group shouted to the couple, who ignored them and crossed the road.

The group then followed the couple and approached them, and the 17-year-old was told to get off his bike, before some of the group assaulted him, and stole his bike, hat and mobile phone.

The girl was uninjured during the incident, but the teenager who was attacked sustained three broken teeth and two black eyes.

The items stolen were a silver GT Chucker mountain bike which had a number of ‘Motocross’ stickers on it, a black LG flip phone and a black woolly hat.

PC Mark Stephenson said, “I am appealing for witnesses after this nasty robbery where a young person has been badly injured while his girlfriend was stood nearby. This was shocking behaviour and left the couple shaken up. If you saw or heard anything please get in touch.”

A 16-year-old, two 17-year-olds and a 19-year-old have all been arrested and released on bail, to return on May 13.
