Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 16-year-old boy was assaulted whilst in Victoria Park on Edinburgh Road, Portsmouth.
Between 5.45pm and 6.15pm on Monday, September 7, the boy was in the park on his bike with a group of friends.
A youth approached him and suddenly punched him, causing him to fall to the ground. The boy got up and rode home.
He attended Queen Alexandra hospital for treatment to a broken lower jaw, and will require an operation in the future to help repair the damage.
The youth who assaulted him is described as:
- White
- Tanned skin
- Around 15 years old
- 5ft 6ins tall
- Muscular build
Detective Constable Pete Bambury said, “This incident happened in broad daylight in a popular Portsmouth park in the City Centre. At that time of day people would have been finishing work and it is often used as a short cut for people heading home. The park is also popular with local youths who use it as a meeting place. The boy who was attacked had just started college and suffered a nasty break on his lower gum line that will take a considerable time to heal. I am appealing for anyone that saw him attacked to speak to me and help identify the person responsible.”
