Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an incident where a man was assaulted and sustained a broken leg on the night of Saturday, March 21.

Between 11pm that evening and 12.30am on Sunday, March 22, a 31-year-old man from Coventry was on a night out in Yates’s with a friend.

At some point between the times stated the man was punched to the head, causing him to fall to the floor and lose consciousness.

When the man regained consciousness he also had a broken leg, and was helped from the premises by two of the door staff.

The man sustained cuts to his head and lip, and his leg was broken in two places. As a result he has had a metal rod inserted into his leg.

Detective Constable Pete Bambury said, “This appears to have been an unprovoked attack on a man who was enjoying a night out in a busy pub. I am certain that a number of people will have seen what happened and how the man came to have these injuries.

“During the evening this man was on the dance floor, he went to the smoking area and was also at the bar. He is a white man, 6ft 2ins tall and of a large build. He has short blond hair and is clean shaven, and on the night of the incident he was wearing a navy blue ‘v’ neck top and dark blue jeans with dark grey trainers.

“Did you see what happened inside the bar or did you see the man after he had been taken out onto Guildhall Walk? If you can help I would urge you to contact me as soon as possible.”

Can you help?
