Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was robbed in the early hours of Monday, March 23.

Between 3am and 3.30am a 20-year-old man from Havant was walking through the subway which connects Mile End Road and Wharf Road, heading in the direction of Estella Road.

He was approached by two men walking in the opposite direction. One of them bumped into the man and said, “What is your problem?” before demanding that the man emptied his pockets.

Fearing for his safety, the man took his wallet, keys and phone from his pockets, and held them out. The man who had bumped into him took the wallet and the pair walked away.

The wallet is brown leather with ‘lacoste’ imprinted on one corner. It contained £42 in cash and an identity card.

The first man, who bumped into the victim, is described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his mid 20s
  • 6ft tall
  • Short cropped dark hai
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a dark coloured ‘puffer’ style jacket and jeans
