Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked and robbed whilst sleeping on a bench between two housing blocks in Kilmiston Close, near to the junction of Hanway Road, in Buckland.
At some time between midnight and 4am yesterday (Sunday, October 11), the 42-year-old Polish man was sleeping on a bench when he was woken suddenly as three men began hitting him.
One of the men had a baseball bat, which he used to hit the Polish man on his body, while others punched his face.
The man had a rucksack with him, from which the group stole a black mobile phone and a wallet, containing some personal cards and £50 cash.
At around 8am that morning the man walked into the area of Inverness Road, where he sought help from members of the public.
The man was taken to the Queen Alexandra hospital by ambulance, where he received treatment for a broken and bleeding nose, cut bottom lip, swollen cheeks and a black eye.
Detective Constable Kristy O’Brien said, “We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything around the time of the attack, beforehand or afterwards to contact us. Also for anyone who may have seen the victim after the attack, or who may have been approached by him in the nearby area that morning.”
