Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was hit over the head with a bottle in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, March 17.
Between 1.30am and 2am, a 21-year-old man from London was on a night out with friends in the VIP area of the Liquid and Envy nightclub.
An altercation broke out near to the bar and the man was hit over the head with a glass bottle.
The man suffered a deep cut to his scalp, and was taken to Queen Alexandra hospital for treatment.
Detective Constable Pete Bambury said, “I know there were a lot of people in the VIP area of the club when the altercation broke out and I am sure that a number of these people will have seen or heard what happened. It is vital that they come forward to ensure we have all the information available about the incident, so I would urge anyone who can help to contact me as soon as possible.
“I must also praise the actions of the door staff who were very quick and professional in reacting to the situation.”
A 20-year-old woman from Fratton has been arrested. She currently remains in police custody where she is assisting officers with their enquiries.
