Police appeal after indecent incident on a bus in Southampton

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man indecently assaulted a woman travelling on the Uni Link bus number 2009, route number U1C.

Between 4.45pm and 5.30pm on Friday, October 21, a 19-year-old woman was sat down on the bus when a man moved to stand next to her seat.

The man leant against the woman’s arm, and touched her indecently. He exited at the next stop, outside the Matalan store in Southampton City Centre.

The man is described as:

  • Asian man
  • 60 years old
  • Around 6ft tall
  • Average build
  • Short dark hair with a lot of grey
  • Wearing a long sleeved short and smart trousers

PC Deborah Passfield said, “We are appealing for any witnesses who may have been on this bus at the time of the incident. Did you see this man or the incident itself? Can you identify the offender? This was particularly distressing for the woman involved. Any assistance you can give is appreciated.”
