Police appeal after dangerous driving on M27

Press Releases

Published: 24/06/2009

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an incident involving two vehicles on the M27 on the morning of Wednesday, June 17.

Between 6.45am and 7.05am, police received reports of aggressive driving between a blue Volvo estate car and a white Peugeot Expert van.

Both vehicles were travelling westbound between junction one of the M27 at Cadnam and the A31 at Ringwood.

The van was reported to have been driving aggressively behind the estate car.

The two vehicles were then involved in a minor collision as they neared Ringwood, and they both stopped near to the Fish Inn.

An altercation then occurred between the two men who had been driving the vehicles, where one man was assaulted. Some drivers passing by had to take avoiding action so as not to collide with the two parked cars.

PC Rob Ellis said, “This incident had to the potential to be far more serious, and I am appealing for anyone who saw these two cars at any point between junction one of the M27 and the A31 at Ringwood to contact me as soon as possible.”

A 42-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested in relation to this incident and released in police bail.
